Drivel From Devizes: Dateline – Sunday 13th May 2018
Here is our weekly round-up of events from D-Town:
1. Yet again,
international and national opinion swung against D-Town. This year’s entry by Uttertosh, representing
the borough, failed to sway the judges at the Eurowilts Song Contest, hosted by
last year’s winner, Trowvegas. The stage
was invaded by a large dog at one point and, despite being offered another
chance to go walkies, the dog declined and the rest of the song had to be heard
in full. No vocal chords were strained
in the making of this song.
2. And, as yet another thrilling football season draws
to its predicable close in the Germolene League (South West Wilts Ladies
Division), the town’s fair maidens failed to win a single game, conceding over
one hundred goals in all competitions.
However, due to the lack of any new teams prepared to take on the
gruelling schedule of training every Tuesday night (in village hall if wet) and
a game every Saturday afternoon, the gallant/ plucky losers have been unanimously
re-elected to the League, on the basis that there are few other teams capable
of providing a sure six points to every other team in the league. Go D-Town!
3. For details of these and all other Devizes stories, don’t
forget to listen to local radio station D-Town F-Off.
