Drivel From Devizes - Dateline Sunday 3rd January 2021

Drivel From Devizes: Dateline – Sunday 3rd January 2021

Here is our weekly round-up of events from D-Town:

1.      New Year’s Eve celebrations in D-Town were muted this year, not so much through lack of firework & prosecco supplies, but because the pubs were all shut.  People merely stood outside and licked the windows.  But another factor was fear.  Whilst everyone wanted to see good riddance to 2020, no-one was feeling brave enough to actually welcome 2021.

2.      And, after finally completing the WEXIT withdrawal agreement at the last moment, trade with the rest of Wiltshire was able to continue, albeit with increased paperwork and red tape.  A series of new bumps in the road have been installed on all major routes out of The Vize, border patrols are in place on main bus routes, and the queue of lorries trying to gain access to Trowvegas has decreased from five lorries to just two vans and a motorcycle.
