Here is our weekly round-up of events from Bromham:
· Disappointment fell over Bromham this week as it emerged that Sid and Ethel Piglet had failed to mate again this year. The couple have been trying to conceive for a number of years, and their attempts have been plagued by the fact that Ethel only really fancies it for a couple of days each Spring. Hopes had been high after Sid had received an injection of Chinese herbal remedies earlier this year, but despite all the good signs when Sid started consuming more pies in the run-up to Bonking Week, the couple failed to get it on.
· The annual Bromham boat-race in the Brook was disrupted yesterday when the Farmers’ Boys broke an oar near the final bend, leaving the Cowhands to take victory. The race had been stopped earlier in the afternoon when a dead sheep was found floating in the water. The marshals called the race off on Health & Safety grounds, since nobody wanted to the carcase to suffer any damage before it was recovered for resale in the local butcher’s shop.
· Leaders of all three political parties on the Bromham Parish Council pledged to publish details of their annual vegetable intake, following complaints that there had been a previous lack of transparency on the matter.
· For details of these and all other Bromham stories, don’t forget to listen to local radio station Carrot FM.
