Drivel From Devizes: Dateline – Sunday 12th July 2020
Here is our weekly
round-up of events from D-Town:
1. Joy
was almost totally unconfined in D-Town this week when the Council announced
that Trowvegas would be part of the new “bus bridge” scheme. This means that Trowvegans can now visit the
town using the 49 service, do some shopping, then bugger off back to their
hovels without having to be quarantined for 14 days.
2. And
many of the catering establishments in town have declared that they will be
participating in the “eat out to help out scheme”. Pubs have rushed to put new offerings on their
menus to attract the new class of bottom-feeders wanting to use their £10-off
vouchers. These have included: a packet
of crisps with a pickled egg in it, tripe and marmite sandwiches, beetroot
& peanut-butter deep-fried pasties, and a mustard and boiled calf’s-head
sharing-platter.
