Drivel From Devizes: Dateline – Sunday 1st August 2021
Here is our weekly round-up of events from D-Town:
1. Citizens of The Vize are waking up this morning still struggling to come to terms with the fact that it is now August. Despite working their way doggedly through both June and July, August seems to have still come as a complete shock to many. “We really didn’t expect this,” said one elderly man. “It seemed to come out of absolutely nowhere. I remember when I was a youngster….” But the last of what he said trailed off into the usual rambling incoherence of the dribbling elderly.
2. Meanwhile D-Town has been doing rather well at the Anusol-sponsored West Wiltshire Olympiad. There have been a cluster of medals gained at a wide range of events, particularly some of the more modern Yoof sports, including the 4 x 100m Goat-nadgering, the 10k queuing, and even a bronze at the Modern Throat-Clearing finals. Other events where local competitors have done well were the International Floodlit Horse Massage, the 5-mile Pub Crawl, and the ever-classic Supermarket Dash (both 5-aisle and 10-aisle events).
