Bulletin From Bromham: Dateline
– Sunday 10th January 2016
Here is our weekly round-up of events from Bromham:
1. Ugly
scenes broke out last night in the snug bar of The Wounded Ferret, as punters
struggled to buy a ticket for the meat raffle. Due to some irregularities in
last week’s draw, the joint of beef first prize was rolled over to this week,
joining a hock of ham, meaning that the winning ticket would win one of the
biggest prizes in meat raffle history.
In the event there were two winners, and the jackpot was shared. Had more winners emerged, they would have won
one chop and one sausage each.
2. And
it was a big day in football yesterday as Bromham Casuals entered the fray in
the 3rd round proper of the East Wiltshire Germolene Cup, before
making their traditional exit from that august competition 90 minutes later,
losing 4-0 to Heddington Headcases.
Their cause was not aided when star striker Dwayne Mooney was dismissed
for foul and abusive language 30 seconds before the kick-off. This was Mooney’s 47th booking of
the season, and the local FA may decide to suspend him if/ when he reaches 50
bookings.
