Here is
our weekly round-up of events from Bromham:
·
Dave
Wentwrong, leader of Bromham Parish Council, emerged triumphant from lengthy
overnight talks in Wiltshire’s political capital, Trowbridge on Thursday,
claiming victory in hard-fought negotiations over Bromham’s contribution to the
County’s budget. Arguing for reform, and
a reduction in the County’s budget, Wentwrong agreed under close questioning
that nothing would actually change, that the County budget would still go up
and that Bromham’s contribution would still increase. “Nevertheless,’ he claimed, “this is a
victory for speech-writers and the art of the headline-grabbing sound-bite.”
·
The
parsnip contamination issue rumbles on, involving more and more farms in the
Bromham area. Traces of swede have now
been found in turnips, and carrot DNA in the celery. Dick Legge, leader of the
Workers’ Horticultural Organisation (WHO) took an unusual stance when he
claimed that people ought to stop getting so excited about the issue, and just
make a very large pot of winter vegetable soup.
Who knew what the hell was in it anyway?
