Bulletin From Bromham: Dateline
– Sunday 6th March 2016
Here is our weekly round-up of events from Bromham:
1. The
great political divide has opened in Bromham this week, as campaigning became
increasingly personal in the debate over Bromham’s possible exit (Brexit) from
the Wiltshire Economic Union. Messages were
flying around the blogosphere (Textit) about different positions (Flexit), talking about the future of manufacturing
(Whomexit), leaving quickly without paying (Legsit), stopping inflation
(Pegsit), and the management of scrapyards (Wrexit).
2. Eyebrows
were raised yesterday at Bromham Parish Church at the service to bless the
union of 127-year old Bromham press baron Rupert “Digger” Piglet and 89-year
old former Miss Bromham, Jerry “Jagger” Piglet, a woman young enough to be his
constant nursing companion. They left
the church under an arch of raised Zimmer frames, before retiring to the back
room of The Wounded Ferret for the wedding breakfast, where the toasts were
drunk from souvenir mugs of Ovaltine.
Two ambulances with crash-team paramedics were on standby throughout the
proceedings, but were not needed. The union
is not expected to reach Silver Wedding status.
3.
For
details of these and all other Bromham stories, don’t forget to listen to local
radio station Carrot FM.
