Here is our weekly round-up of events from D-Town:
1. The Town Council has gone into cyber-training, ahead of their key clash online with Handforth District Council. This is a long-anticipated grudge fixture against one of the top Zoom-League sides, and could be considered a real six-pointer as both teams vie for the Online Championships. Both sides sport their own stars, including Awkward Bastards, Points of Order and No Authority Here Experts. D-Town is hoping that its secret weapon will be its ability to troll and harangue the speaker from deep, without resorting to microphone muting.
2. After the reported death of Christopher Plummer during the week, a day of civic mourning has been announced. The Town Choir will sing “Edelweiss” and “Doh-Re-Mi” on a rolling loop next Tuesday, whilst the inner-city farm will provide practical displays aimed at helping Lonely Goatherds, and the Youth Services Unit will give talks about being Sixteen, Going On Seventeen. The town’s Mountaineering Club will Climb Every Mountain in the local area, and the Self-Esteem Group will hold a seminar entitled “I Have Confidence In Me”. Citizens will be able to vote for their Favourite Things.
