Herb Dumplings

Recipe for: HERB DUMPLINGS

 

Ingredients: 

  • 115g self-raising flour
  • 115g suet
  • 115g fresh white breadcrumbs (optional)
  • Fresh or dried herbs to taste (chopped)
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten 

Method: 

  1. in a bowl, mix all the dry ingredients
  2. then add the eggs, stirring to form a soft dough
  3. use your hands to work the mixture smooth
  4. divide the dough into 8-12 dumplings, then drop into your stew or whatever and cook, covered for 35-45 minutes (depending on size)
  5. the dumplings should fluff up & increase in size, so don’t overcrowd the pan
  6. the liquid they are cooking in needs to be at a good simmer or boiling and the pan must be covered to keep the heat & the steam in
